Built in stone and carefully restored, A Casa da Chavella is generous, comfortable and welcoming — a house meant to be lived in, not just stayed in.
Set in A Costa da Morte, one of Galicia’s most beautiful and best-preserved coastal areas, the house is surrounded by forests, dunes, wetlands and wild beaches. This landscape remains largely untouched by mass tourism, and even in summer you can walk long stretches of coastline in near solitude.
The house is located in the quiet hamlet of Verdillo, a peaceful rural setting just 5 minutes from Carballo, 20 minutes from A Coruña and 35 minutes from Santiago de Compostela. It is also close to some of the finest beaches on this stretch of coast.
A house designed to slow down
Every space has been thoughtfully designed. Much of the furniture was created by the owners, Eva and Roberto, engineers with a deep passion for design, travel and natural living. Their intention was simple: to turn the house into a real home, where daily life feels easy and unforced.
The spacious ground floor and the garden are fully accessible, allowing guests with reduced mobility to enjoy the house comfortably and without limitations.
Garden, pool and organic vegetable plot
Surrounded by a large garden, a private swimming pool and an organic vegetable plot, A Casa da Chavella invites you to slow the rhythm of the day.
Some mornings begin in the garden: picking herbs or vegetables that are ready, cooking simple meals and eating slowly.
The vegetable plot is not an extra — it is part of the way of life the house proposes. Just the quiet pleasure of feeling at home, even if only for a while.

The 2 rooms on the ground floor are spacious, practical and comfortable, and are designed to be converted into double or single rooms, at the guest's choice.
On the upper floor there is a bedroom with a double bed and a sunny terrace of more than 50 m2. Another bedroom with a large blue quilted headboard and a practical dressing room. And finally the suite, also designed to be converted into a bedroom with a double bed or two single beds, with a comfortable jacuzzi for taking a restorative bath.
The house has 3 bathrooms: a large bathroom with a shower on the ground floor, another with a shower on the upper floor and finally one in the suite with a jacuzzi.
Living rooms and kitchen
The spacious living-dining room exudes elegance and tranquillity and invites you to spend long evenings by the fireplace in winter, to enjoy long after-dinner conversations around the large custom-designed dining table made from reclaimed wood, or to simply relax while reading and enjoying the beautiful views of the valley or to indulge in a nice nap.
From the kitchen you can also see the evocative views of the valley in the background. It is designed with high-end furniture and appliances, is fully equipped and is very comfortable and practical for those who like to cook.

This rural retreat, with views over the valley, is set on a private estate of around 4,000 m², with a fully enclosed 1,000 m² garden.
During your stay, you can relax in different areas of the garden, pick fresh fruit and vegetables from the vegetable garden, have a snack on the porch or in the shade of the oak trees, swim in the pool, or simply spend time listening to the birds and watching the sun set behind the hills.
The pool is fenced for safety, and there is an outdoor dining area where you can enjoy a barbecue or simply eat outside.

Nearby beaches
One of the best beaches in Spain, Razo-Baldaio Beach is a 12-minute drive from the house. It is part of a protected natural area and is one of the longest beaches in Galicia, featuring dunes, marshlands, and a saltwater lagoon that becomes a large natural pool—loved by both children and adults.
From A Casa da Chavella, you can easily reach many other amazing beaches in the area within a short drive.
For walkers, there are nearby paths just a short stroll away, offering long, leisurely walks with open views and a tranquil countryside atmosphere.
Activities and routes
In the area you can surf, go horseback riding, cycle or take relaxed walks through beaches, fields and forests.
The Ruta dos Pinos do Mar is a coastal route that crosses natural landscapes from Caión to Malpica, passing by Razo-Baldaio beach. You can walk up to about 6 km along the sea, and the route runs parallel to the coast, crossing cliffs, gentle hills, forests and wide beaches. The route can be done by car, bike or on foot, making it suitable for all types of travellers.
A strategic location for exploring the area
The house has good motorway access and is an ideal base for day trips to towns in the Rías Baixas and Rías Altas, as well as the Costa da Morte.
Approximate distances from the house: Malpica a 15 min, Caión a 15 min, Ponteceso a 20 min, Laxe a 30 min, Fisterra a 45 min, Muxía a 50 min.
You can also visit the most iconic lighthouses of the Costa da Morte. Which one will be your favourite? Fisterra, Punta Nariga, Cabo Vilán, Laxe… or Roncudo?
The house is also a convenient option for pilgrims who want a quiet place in nature to rest after completing the Camino de Santiago.
Nearby services and local life
Just 5 minutes away is Carballo, the capital of the region, with all necessary services: a thermal spa, medical centre, supermarkets, hypermarkets, restaurants, tapas bars, swimming pools, a shopping centre with shops and cinemas, paddle tennis courts and a golf course a few kilometres away.
Every Thursday and on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month, there is a local market with fresh, locally sourced products that is worth visiting.

If you want to eat out, there are plenty of good options nearby, from family-run restaurants to Michelin-starred venues. In Verdillo itself, in Carballo and on Razo beach there are restaurants where you can also order food to take away.
